What Can I Expect From My Sofwave™ Treatment?
Sofwave™ treatments are performed in the office and take between 1 and 1.5 hours. While each patient is different, Dr. Persky will generally follow these steps:
Step One: Consultation
The first step is to meet with Dr. Persky to discuss your goals for rejuvenation. Dr. Persky will determine if you are a good candidate for Sofwave™ treatment. He will evaluate your skin as well as your facial features, proportions, symmetry, and ensure you will benefit from the treatment. Then he will create a customized treatment plan treatments detailing a plan that best fits your aesthetic needs and goals. Every patient is treated uniquely.
Step Two: Facial Numbing
While the majority of patients do not need any topical anesthesia, facial numbing is an option for patients who are anxious or who have no pain tolerance whatsoever. Tylenol is given 30 minutes before the treatm,ent. The Sofwave™ treatment is well-tolerated, but you may experience a slight warming sensation. Dr. Persky adjusts the power to accommodate each patient’s tolerance to a “4 to 5” on a discomfort scale of 10. The device’s built-in cooling system alleviates discomfort and reduces skin damage.
Step Three: Sofwave™ Treatment
Once your skin has been prepped and you are comfortable, Dr. Persky will begin the treatment. The device’s handpiece is glided over ultrasound gel on the skin. Delivering precise microfocused ultrasound energy in an even manner approximately 1 to 2 millimeters deep under your skin.
Step Four: Post-Treatment Care
Once your treatment is over, your face will be cleansed and you will can resume all of your normal activities. Sofwave™ is gentle enough that no recovery or downtime is necessary; some patients even schedule their appointments during a lunch break!
When Can I See My Sofwave™ Results?
Sofwave™ works by gently remodeling collagen and elastin fibers deep within the tissues, promoting greater production and strengthening what is already there. Though some patients may see improvement immediately during the first few weeks, results continue to improve for 6 to 9 months. Patients will notice gradual improvement in facial aging over a few months.
The long-term effects of this treatment are a younger appearance, including improved fine lines and wrinkles, reduced skin laxity, improved facial contour, and improved skin texture for months to come.
