What Kind of Training Does a JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® XC Provider Need?
JUVÉDERM® VOLUMA® XC, like all cosmetic procedures, should be performed in a sterile clinical setting. Your JUVÉDERM® VOLUMA® XC provider should be trained in facial anatomy to administer a deep cheek injection properly. This is why it is essential to choose a facial plastic surgeon and those trained by plastic surgeons.
Is JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® XC Hypoallergenic?
No allergy testing is necessary for JUVÉDERM® VOLUMA® XC; however, if you have had a reaction to lidocaine in the past, you should inform your treatment provider. JUVÉDERM® VOLUMA® XC contains trace amounts of lidocaine to enhance comfort during the injection process.
What Skin Types Can JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® XC Be Used For?
Typically, all skin types can be treated. What Is My Injectable Process Like?
Using a small, thin needle, Dr. Persky will inject small amounts of the JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® XC solution into strategic areas of the face to maximize the volume replacement and lifting effect of the filler. Typically, JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® XC is used in the cheeks and zygomatic arches (the side of the cheekbones extending to the ear). Most patients report that JUVÉDERM® VOLUMA® XC injections are easy and more comfortable than having BOTOX® Cosmetic injections.
Do JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® XC Injections Hurt?
You may feel a slight sting during the injection; however, a topical anesthetic can help reduce the pain. Dr. Persky uses special injection techniques that make your experience very comfortable.
Can JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® XC Be Combined With Other Cosmetic Procedures?
We often combine JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® XC with other non-surgical cosmetic treatments, such as BOTOX® Cosmetic, laser skin resurfacing, microneedling, and injectable fillers like RADIESSE®, Sculptra® Aesthetic, and KYBELLA®. While JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® XC is one of the most effective injectable fillers, it cannot be used on all facial areas or for every facial concern. For example, BOTOX® Cosmetic is best suited for the areas around the eyes and the forehead, skin resurfacing can even out skin tone (injectables do not treat skin pigmentation issues), and KYBELLA® dissolves excess submental fat.
What Is the Recovery After JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® XC Injections?
After JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® XC treatment, patients can immediately return to work and normal activities. Some patients may experience some bruising at the injection site. We ask that our patients avoid strenuous exercise for 24-36 hours after their injection to prevent delayed bruising and swelling. For the most part, JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® XC is a safe and effective treatment for correcting volume loss in the face. In rare cases, patients may notice a lump or bump on or around the injection site; however, this will be alleviated within two to three days.
How Long Does Swelling Last After a JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® XC Injection?
There may be some swelling and bruising, but many of our clients can engage in normal daily activities the next day. Although the swelling around the injection site may last up to two weeks, the bruising can be concealed with makeup.
When Will I See My JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® XC Results?
Once the treatment is complete, results will be immediately noticeable. Most patients achieve results that last up to two years when used in the cheek area.
