Step One: Facial Numbing
Dr. Persky begins treatment by applying a topical anesthesia cream on the face for 30 to 60 minutes. This ensures you experience minimal or no discomfort from the microneedling process and that this treatment is completely stress-free.
Step Two: Microneedling
After the anesthetic has had enough time to work, it will be gently cleansed from the face. Next, Dr. Persky will perform mechanical microneedling. During this procedure, a mechanical device resembling a pen with multiple pulsating tiny needles is used to trace across the skin. These needles create microinjuries, or tiny channels, in the skin’s surface. This procedure alone resurfaces the skin, and these microinjuries trigger the body’s healing response, promoting collagen production.
Alone, microneedling is an effective regenerative treatment. It’s even more powerful when combined with a topical treatment, such as PDRN.
Step Three: Salmon Sperm (PDRN) Application
After the skin has been primed and the microchannels created, Dr. Persky will administer two syringes of a purified PDRN solution. The microchannels enable the skin to absorb the solution more effectively, resulting in a better outcome. The treatment typically lasts about 30 minutes (aside from the numbing process). You will be instructed to leave the solution on your skin overnight, then wash it off in the morning.
When Can I See Results After a Salmon Sperm (PDRN) Facial?
Each patient is different, and your results will depend on the number of treatments you undergo, your overall skin quality, and the desired results. However, patients are expected to see results as follows:
- Results can be seen as early as one to two days after treatment, with improvements in skin hydration, tone, and “K-pop” glassiness.
- Results will continue to improve over the following weeks, as collagen production begins to advance. Patients can expect to see improvement in skin radiance, reduced fine lines, a smoother texture, and more supple, dewy skin.

What is recovery like after a salmon sperm (PDRN) facial?
Immediately after your treatment, expect your face to be slightly red and possibly experience some swelling due to the microneedling. There are usually a few tiny pinpoint spots of blood. This is normal and should subside within a few hours. You may want to use a cold compress to help reduce swelling.
The next morning, gently wash the solution off your face, but be aware that you will have some tiny red dots across your face—these are tiny scabs from the microneedling process. Do not scratch or rub them off, as this can create scars. They will slough off naturally in about a day or two, and you’ll be able to start seeing your results.
